Re-photography: Make the Familiar Strange Again

Resurrect dinosaurs; place your family in a time vacuum or simply abstract, in this workshop we will return the familiar to the strange. Participants will learn how to transform a moving or still image into a completely new context through composition, scale and the migration of mediums. We will look at re-photography techniques and learn how to use a 16mm bolex film camera and high contrast black and white film.

Participants are invited to bring in a short piece of digital footage or a still image and will then re-photograph and hand-process the material. At the end of the workshop we will watch the transformed image projected on 16mm.
